Wishbone Chair / Woven Furniture Restoration

Giving Tired Chairs a Second Sit

A worn seat doesn't have to mean the end of a well-loved chair. We restore Wishbone chairs and other woven furniture using traditional techniques and natural materials, including Danish paper cord, rush and other heritage weaving fibres. Whether it's a cherished family piece or a design classic, every restoration is carried out with care, ready to be enjoyed for many years to come.

Wishbone Chair Restoration — rescued from its forlorn, frayed state: the old weaving removed, the frame carefully sanded, and the piece lovingly restored to its former glory.

Where Worn Seats Find New Life

Every chair arrives with a story to tell. We begin by getting to know it—assessing the frame, the weave and everything in between. The tired seat is carefully removed, the timber is sanded back and given a fresh start with your choice of a traditional soap finish or a nourishing oil finish.

Then comes the slow, satisfying part. Using time-honoured techniques, we weave the new seat by hand, strand by strand, until the chair is ready to get back to doing what it does best: supporting cups of tea, good conversations and generations of bottoms.

No Crystal Ball, Just Honest Pricing

Every chair is a little different, but the maths is refreshingly simple. Restoration is £120 per chair, plus the cost of materials. We only use quality weaving materials, such as Danish paper cord and natural rush, and these are purchased specifically for your project.

For example, restoring a Wishbone chair with natural Danish paper cord requires a full spool, which costs around £100 (including shipping). One spool is enough for two chairs, but as the cord isn't sold by the half spool, the full amount is required even if you're restoring a single chair.

If you're unsure what your chair needs, send us a few photos, we're always happy to help unravel the details before you commit.
